September in Keswick

September is a wonderful month to visit Keswick and the North Lakes.

With 12-13 hours of daylight to fill your day with activities.

Sunrises that bit later and Sunsets that bit earlier, you can be up from dawn to dusk exploring and filling your cup.

We often experience those final warm days of summer with the signs of autumn creeping in.

And with the Summer Holidays over it is a quieter time to visit compared to July and August.

It truly is a beautiful time of year.

Catch a Sunrise

Are you an early bird? Why not catch a sunrise during the month of September

With Sunrise times between 6:20 -7:13am (from the start to the end of the month) you do not need to get up too early to witness the beauty of a new day.

Great Sunrise Spots ; Latrigg, Catbells, Friars Crag, Blencathra.

Watch a Sunset

Needing a final adventure for the day? Why not watch the sun go down in a stunning location.

Sunset times in September start at just gone 8pm - 6:49pm

Great Sunset Locations: Castlrerigg Stone Circle, Surprise View, Friars Crag, Catbells

Go for a Walk

In early September we can be graced with some glorious sunny days (here's hoping)

Towards the end of the month, the crisp Autumnal chill starts to arrive, especially in the mornings and evenings

If you are planning on heading out for walks during your stay, please do remember to pack layers, your waterproofs, a map, plenty of water, and food/snacks and check the weather forecast (and this means Mountain Weather forecast)

Be prepared.

On the Water

Hire Paddleboards, Kayaks, Canoes and boats and enjoy some time out on the water.

Take a tour on the Keswick Launch, or enjoy a swim on those warmer days.

(Please note water temperatures start to drop again from the end of August, enter the water slowly, have someone with you and use a tow float so you are visible to those on the water)

Why not use the Keswick Launch as a water taxi to get you to the start of your hike/walk? There are 6 jetties in operation, including one to take you to the base of Catbells.

For those days it is raining or you just fancy a more relaxed day there is still so much you can do.
