Keswick Launch 

Keswick Launch has 6 Jetties where the lake cruises stop to hop on and off. 

1. Keswick Boat Landings - Lake Cruises around Derwentwater start and end here 

2. Ashness Gate - stop for Ashness Bridge, Surprise View, Watendlath or wander through Great wood

3. Lodore - Stop for Lodore Falls, Chinese Bridge, Borrowdale Valley, Grange and Seatoller 

4. High Brandelhow - Stop for National Trust woodland and routes up Catbells and Maiden Moor 

5. Low Brandelhow - Stop for Brandelhow wood and parkland, and the 'Entrust' Hand Sculpture

6. Hawes End - Stop for the main walk up Catbells

Enjoy a 50 minute trip around the lake, or use as a day ticket – hop on and off as much as you like.

Tickets

If you are starting your cruise at Keswick please pay in their booking office at the Keswick boat landings.

If you wish to catch the launch at any other jetty around the lake please pay on the boat, preferably by card.

You can also purchase tickets for individual stages, if you just want to use the boat to get you to your destination, prices start from £3 for an adult and £1.50 for children.

Summer 16th March - 10th Nov

The Derwentwater lake cruises operate both clockwise and anti-clockwise around the lake.

There are occasions when the weather conditions prohibit sailings.

Winter 11th Nov - 14th March

Please be aware during the winter the boat only operates on certain dates; 

• November 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,23,24
• December and January – Closed
• February 8,9,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28
• March 1,2,8,9,10,11,12,13,14

Hike Catbells 

Walk: From the door of your accommodation in Keswick to the Keswick Launch Ticket office. 

Bus: Get one of the many Buses into Keswick. Find out the buses you can get into Keswick Here

Park: Keswick Rugby Club for £5 parking all day, and a 15% discount for Keswick Launch Tickets

For easier accessibility park at the Lakeside Car Park, next to the Theatre by the Lake.

Cruise: Hop on the Keswick Launch. Get your tickets from the Booking Office. Take the boat to Hawes End or High Brandelhow for your start point for Catbells

Enjoy your hike up Catbells without the stress of having to park (as there is very little parking and no physical car park for Catbells) 

Once you have finished the hike, take the Boat back across the water into the centre of Keswick

And why not grab a drink or a bite to eat in Keswick before you head home

Low Brandelhow - Lodore walk 

Why not take the Keswick Launch to Low Brandelhow Jetty and take a lovely scenic walk along the edge of Derwentwater to Lodore Jetty and hop back on the boat back. 

The walk is roughly 1 Hour and around 2.5 - 3 miles long, with easily accessible paths.

This walk will take you through some beautiful woodlands with views across Derwentwater and you will also get to cross the Chinese Bridge. 

Please be aware after heavy rainfall the path to the bridge can be flooded, but there is a walk around beautiful Grange to avoid this. You can check the water levels Here

Why not pack a picnic lunch to have on the shores of Derwentwater en route, please always remember to Leave No Trace and take your rubbish away with you. 

If you are a keen wild swimmer, there are some great places to get into the water for a swim, please take care in cold water, get in slowly even on a hot day.

Or why not stop off at the Borrowdale Hotel or Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa for a drink or lunch before getting back on the boat. 

Why not take the 509 bus from Keswick to Pooley Bridge or Glenridding for the day and hop on one of the Ullswater Steamers

Take the 555 bus to Bowness on Windermere from Keswick 

For a day out on Windermere cruises

Coniston Water also has a boat cruise, Coniston Launch

However, unfortunately, there is no direct bus to Coniston from Keswick
